Medical Products

RadCam 2000 Nuclear Imaging Survey Meter
The RadCam 2000 is a gamma ray spectroscopic imaging system. The RadCam 2000 produces an image of a gamma radiation superimposed on a video camera image of the same field of view. The Radcam 2000 system is used, for example, in a nuclear power plant. The system is shown in the first image. The second image is a close-up of the system monitor that has located two 10 µC cobalt-57 radioactive sources placed in the windows of a building.

Cesium Iodide Screens
A cesium iodide scintillation screen converts a pattern of x-rays to a pattern of light. RMD provides structured cesium iodide screens for x-ray imaging systems. In an x-ray imaging system, this light is detected by an amorphous-silicon photodiode array, a CMOS array, or a CCD camera. The first image shows some RMD cesium iodide screens, the second image shows an RMD x-ray image of a small fish. RMD cesium iodide screens are typically manufactured and sold to customers on an OEM basis.

Silicon Avalanche Photodiodes
A silicon avalanche photodiode (SiAPD) detects optical photons and low-energy x-rays. The word "avalanche" refers to a process in the device where a signal electron "avalanches" and creates a greater number of electrons at the device output. The gain can be over 1,000. A SiAPD may be used in a high magnetic field. RMD provides SiAPD detectors through RMD, Inc. An image of am RMD SiAPD device with 64 discrete pixels is shown here
